Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar (Regd.)
With Aim to promote hockey and to explore new “SURJIT” among the budding players, Surjit Hockey Academy for local boys of Jalandhar and neighbouring districts with a sperate identity, started their activities with 10 players during the COVID-19 pandemic, after relaxation in gathering. Now, more than 200 players are attending this coaching centre, here at Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar.
Players under age group of 5 and 16 years are given training by the expert coaches like Olympian Rajinder Singh, Daronacharaya Awardee, Ms. Pardeep Kaur, NIS trained Hockey Coach, Mrs. Sita Devi, NIS trained Hockey Coach, Prof. Balwinder Singh, Coach, Mrs. Bindu, Former National Player and Mr. Naresh Kumar Nangal, Coach………………………..
Olympian Surjit Singh
Born on October 10, 1951, Surjit Singh played for State College of Sports, Jalandhar under Guru Nanak Dev University and later for Combined Universities team as deep defender. Surjit Singh made his international debut in the second World Cup Hockey Tournament in Amsterdam in 1973. He was a member of the Indian team which under the leadership of charismatic leader Ajit Pal Singh won the third World Cup Hockey Tournament at Kuala Lumpur in 1975.
He also participated in the Fifth World Cup Hockey Tournament, the 1974 and 1978 Asian Games, 1976 Montreal Olympic Games Surjit Singh was acclaimed as one of the best full backs in the world. In 1973 he was included in the World Hockey XI Next year he was a member of the All-Star Hockey XI…………………………

Dear Parents, Young Athletes and Supporters of Sports,
It is with immense pride and a profound sense of duty that I address you as the President of the Surjit Hockey Society, Jalandhar. This institution stands as a living tribute to one of India’s greatest hockey legends Olympian Late Mr. Surjit Singh Randhawa.
Sardar Surjit Singh was not just a player; he was a force of nature on the field—a member of the World XI and Asia Stars XI, who represented our nation with distinction in the Olympics, World Cup, Champions Trophy, and Asian Games. His life, tragically cut short in a fatal accident on January 7th, 1984, was dedicated to the upliftment of hockey in India. The Surjit Hockey Academy is the embodiment of his vision, carrying forward his passion for excellence, discipline and the true spirit of Indian hockey.
From a humble beginning with just 15 local boys during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Academy has grown into a beacon of hope, now nurturing over 125 young players from Jalandhar and neighbouring villages. This remarkable journey is a testament to our shared commitment to unearth the next “SURJIT” among our budding champions.
Our mission transcends the creation of skilled athletes; we are committed to forging character, instilling discipline and shaping future players through the transformative power of hockey.
